Hope everyone had a great Christmas and is gearing up for a fantastic New Year!
One of the presents my son got from is dad for Christmas was a hoverboard. Yeah, yeah, they spontaneously combust and are dangerous. But what fun is life if you don’t take some risks? This one was a “safer” model that isn’t supposed to catch fire (you supposedly can tell by the plug), and I was all about trying it out, so I did. I had actually gotten somewhat decent at it after a few days. The hardest part is getting on and off the thing. Well, my luck ran out and on Monday, I fell off while trying to dismount and heard an awful noise in my foot. My husband took me to urgent care, and sure enough, I broke a bone in my left foot. Ouch!
I feel pretty silly for being a statistic that fell off a hoverboard and broke a bone. The past couple days have been tough for me. I’m wearing a walking boot, but I can’t put any weight on my bad foot, so I have to use crutches. This is so difficult. I hate not being able to do normal things without ease, like going to get a glass of water, let alone being able to exercise. Today I woke up feeling a little better mentally. I had my husband bring up the yoga mat and I did some stretching (upper body only!) and did a tiny bit of ab work. I’m going to a specialist next week, so I’ll ask more about my restrictions then, but for now, I’m taking it pretty easy. I want this to heal as quickly as possible.
So with today being #WellnessWednesday, I’m focusing more on my mental health. It’s easy to let something like this bring me down, but I’m not going to let it. The little bit of exercise I did helped; As did styling my hair and putting on some makeup. While I’m not leaving the house today, it felt good to do something normal!
